Moodle opens up new worlds to students at Rolling Green

Fifth-grade students at Rolling Green Elementary School are excited about research.

Tuesday, the students in Lisa Hewitt’s class began their presentations on constellations they had researched. The students weren’t as excited about the stars they studied as how they conducted their research.

Hewitt’s students have access to their homework assignments, class discussions, blogs, forums, brain teasers, research links and other class documents on the computer software program Moodle, which creates an online community for students.

“It makes them more excited to learn,” Hewitt said. “It gives them more control and puts the power of learning in their hands.” More…
